hey there,
There have been requests for a general mtg. and I feel we're in desperate need for one. I feel like I have failed miserably in keeping the group together, in moving the site along, in helping Boston Indymedia grow. I was very hopeful that we would have a new site by the end of the summer but because of time constraints of many (myself included), it just didn't happen... And then, I've seen how our group has slowly dwindled into casual emails here and there. I'm sorry for anything that I did wrong to foster that, including not asking for more help and feedback. But I don't want to see Indymedia die... If no one were posting on the site, it's one thing, but it does serve a purpose to the community. However small that community is now.
But what I envision is a place where radical journalists can build their skills, where community organizations can post their press releases, where people can find inspiration, where liberals, progressives, radicals, and anarchists can debate... I mean, we could be so much bigger than we are.
Could we talk about this in person? I really feel like a new web site would make all the difference and have seen it being true in the case of NY Indymedia (http://nyc.indymedia.org/en/index.html) and Indybay (http://www.indybay.org/). I mean, I've seen Boston activists post to the NY site instead of ours... And I'm sure it's also a matter of reaching out to people, which we haven't done in over a year!
But I don't feel comfortable reaching out without a fully functional web site. This is not to attack anyone because I understand there is a time issue, but I don't feel like I'm doing a good job in keeping the project going. Maybe if we get all together and own this project together, we could make it happen... together?
Please reply to all if you have any comments or suggestions, so we can start talking.
peace,
sofia
